Today should have been the Annual Investiture of the United Grand Lodge of England. I thought it would be appropriate to highlight the two members of the Province who would have been honoured in London this afternoon. For obvious reasons they aren't wearing their new regalia in the photos.

W Bro Ryland L James, Past Senior Grand Deacon
On Wednesday 29th April 2020, The Most Worshipful the Grand Master, His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent was pleased to promote W Bro Ryland Lewis James to the rank of Past Senior Grand Deacon.

W Bro Ryland was Initiated in St Peter’s Lodge no 476 in 1999 and served as Master of that Lodge in 2006. He is currently Assistant Director of Ceremonies. In the Province he was appointed to the rank of Past Provincial Senior Grand Deacon in 2010 and promoted to Provincial Grand Charity Steward in 2016. W Bro Ryland served the Province as Secretary and Treasurer to the West Wales Masonic Charities Association until 2019. He was appointed as Assistant Provincial Grand Master in July 2019.

In United Grand Lodge, W Bro Ryland was appointed to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Standard Bearer in 2016.

In the Royal Arch E Comp Ryland was Exalted in the Merlin Chapter no 476 in 2004 and he served as MEZ in 2014. In the Province he served as Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2015 and was promoted to Provincial Grand Charity Steward in 2016. He was further promoted to the Rank of Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah in 2019.

W Bro David E Rayson, Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies
On Wednesday 29th April 2020, The Most Worshipful the Grand Master, His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent was pleased to appoint W Bro David Ernest Rayson to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies.

W Bro David was Initiated in the Prince of Wales Lodge no 671 in 1986 and served as Master of that Lodge in 1995 and served the St Teilo Lodge no 4755 as Master in 2000. W Bro David served the Province most recently as Provincial Senior Grand Warden in 2017.

In the Royal Arch E Comp David was Exalted in Unity Chapter no 6709 in 1989 and served that Chapter as MEZ in 2003.

E Comp David served the Province as ADC from 2005 until 2015, when he was promoted to DC. E Comp David was further promoted to Deputy Grand Superintendent in 2018. 

In Supreme Grand Chapter E Comp David holds the rank of Past Grand Sword Bearer.

Well what funny times we find ourselves in. I've gone from being really busy, travelling here, there and everywhere, to having a clear diary. The only things left to do are from my wife's "wish list" and I'm running out of excuses fast! With Freemasonry suspended, my inbox is pretty empty, well when I say pretty empty, I mean completely empty. We've done our best to keep the West Wales website up to date with the latest Government Guidance, but I am sure that we're all sitting at home watching the television, so no one is short of guidance, quite the reverse. All we have to do is make sure we follow it and keep our fingers crossed that the situation improves. We haven't made any firm decisions about when and where to reschedule the events which we have had to postpone. I think the time for that will be when the situation is a bit clearer.
