Thesis title : Analysis of risk factors for abortion during a field outbreak of
Equine
Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1)
Positions held : After completing her MSc
research work at Nottingham, Vet school Clare stayed on
at the Vet school on short term research contracts until she was given a
position with us here at IBERS to study for her PhD. Her PhD used the Institute’s
world class genomics technology to investigating the genetic relationship
between Welsh ponies and Cobs and other native UK pony breeds. Clare
successfully completed her PhD and published a number of papers on her work.
She is now in Quality Assurance Auditor for an independent Veterinary pathology
consultancy

Recipient – Wendy Gill
Thesis Title : Investigation of Nutritional Colour cues in equine selection
preferences
Positions held: Immediately after her MSc
Wendy worked in a nearby equestrian center after which she took
up a position of Lecturer in Animal Care at Bromley College, Bromley, Kent

Insang returned home to South Korea to work for the Korean Racing Authority

Thesis title: Chose not to do a Dissertation so took a Postgrad Dip Equine

Positions held: Polly went on to do a PGCE
to become a secondary school science teacher

Recipient – Ruth Clamp
Thesis title: Effect of preimplantation factor on the innate immune response of
bovine mammary epithelial cells in vitro.
Positions held: After completing her MSc Ruth
took up a PhD position with us developing her
MSc thesis investigating endometritis in cattle. During this PhD she worked in
Swansea and the US. She was successfully awarded her PhD and the worked for a
short while as a postdoctoral researcher and as a lecturing assistant before
securing a permanent lecturing position here in IBERS.

Thesis title: Identification of breed differences in UK pony populations using
high density SNP genotyping
Positions held: After she finished her MSc
Shannon went on to study Veterinary Science in the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy, Kosice,
Slovakia.
