Thesis title:     Genetic relatedness of Section A Hill Pony Improvement Society animals to lowland Section A hill ponies determined through microsatellite and SNP investigation

Positions held: After completing her MSc Emily took up a number of temporary positions and has just enrolled on to our PGCE course to train as a secondary school science teacher.

Academic Year 2014/2015 - MSc Livestock Science

Recipient – Hannah Earle Payne

Thesis title:     Effect of elevated B-hydroxybutyrate concentrations on reproduction and production traits in dairy cows

Positions held: After completing her MSc Hannah took up the position of Lecturer in Animal Science at Oatridge College which is part of SRUC (Scottish Rural Colleges) 

Academic Year 2015/2016 - MSc Managing the Environment

Recipient – Gruffydd Lloyd Jones

Thesis title:     Identifying the Toxic legacy of chemicals introduced into the soil by Rhododendron ponticum L.

Positions held: After completing his MSc Gruffydd went straight into a PhD here at Aberystwyth University investigating the effects of rhododendrons on soil processes

Academic Year 2016/2017 - MSc Livestock Science

Recipient – Daniel Stout 

Daniel Stout with Steve Hookey
Thesis title:     Carcass loin conformation and condition in purebred Texel lambs

Positions held: Daniel has just submitted his dissertation for his MSc, the result will be known in December but there is every expectation that he will do well. Daniel has yet to secure a job as he has only just completed his dissertation, but he is aiming to return to Orkney/Scotland to work as an advisor in animal production.

James Ross, Mojito in Hand! We don't have a 9 O'Clock Toast in my Mother Lodge. It used to hugely irritate my predecessor as Provincial Secretary when we gave the Toast "Absent Brethren" at the end of the Tyler's Toast 😉. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - World Leader and Freemason

Statue of Ataturk on the Main Square in Marmaris I was fortunate enough to go on holiday to Turkey last year. We went to Marmaris on the Turkish Riviera. It's a lovely place for a holiday and very relaxing. So relaxing that I actually found time to learn some ritual. Something I've always said I was going to do on holiday, but never actually achieved. I'm not an expert on Turkish history, but I had heard of Kemal Atatürk. I became a lot more interested in him when I came across this statue of him on the main square. When I looked into his life to find out what prompted the statue, I discovered that he is an inspiration to us all. Well what funny times we find ourselves in. I've gone from being really busy, travelling here, there and everywhere, to having a clear diary. The only things left to do are from my wife's "wish list" and I'm running out of excuses fast! With Freemasonry suspended, my inbox is pretty empty, well when I say pretty empty, I mean completely empty. We've done our best to keep the West Wales website up to date with the latest Government Guidance, but I am sure that we're all sitting at home watching the television, so no one is short of guidance, quite the reverse. All we have to do is make sure we follow it and keep our fingers crossed that the situation improves. We haven't made any firm decisions about when and where to reschedule the events which we have had to postpone. I think the time for that will be when the situation is a bit clearer.
