Trip to Ireland 2020

Image
The Touring Party The rugby tour to Ireland seems like a very long time ago now. We had barely heard of Coronavirus when we went to Ireland and a few weeks later we were locked down and have stayed locked down ever since. I've turned the photos from the trip into a little video to remind us all of happier times.  The ferry sailed from Pembroke Dock at 02.45 on Thursday 6th February 2020. On board, a touring party of 24 West Wales Freemasons, bound for adventures in the South East of Ireland. Adventures, mainly centred on a visit to Royal Shamrock Lodge, no 32 in Waterford on Thursday 6th February and the Ireland v Wales fixture in Dublin on Saturday 8th February 2020. The trip was organised by members of St Peter’s Lodge in Carmarthen but included Mackworth Club Members from Caerfyrddin Lodge in Carmarthen; Prince of Wales Lodge in Llanelli, James Ross, Head of West Wales Freemasons, President of the Mackworth Club & keen rugby fan; and Ryland James, Assista...

Pro First Grand Principal Pays a Visit

Image
Pro First Grand Principal ME Comp Peter Lowndes I have been fortunate enough to go to lots of exciting and interesting meetings, but the visit of Peter Lowndes to the Dinbych Chapter Installation in 2016 is right up near the top of the list. It was a complete surprise to nearly everyone. I was lucky enough to act as the duty driver and photographer. I took loads of photos which nobody has ever seen. Inspired by Fishguard Flower Show I have turned them into a film which you can watch below. Sadly, four of the Companions in the photos are no longer with us. I have left their photos in to remind us of happier times. The Companions of the Dinbych Royal Arch Chapter No 1177 had a huge surprise at their Installation meeting on Wednesday 6 th April 2016. They had already been honoured by the presence of the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Stephen Hookey; The Deputy Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Dr Bryn Barton; The Second Provincial Grand Pri...

Fishguard Flower Festival 2013

Image
This was a lovely event a few years ago. At the time we only published a couple of photos, but there were loads taken, so I have turned them in to a little film set to music. The 2013 Fishguard Flower and Craft Festival was organised by Kemes Lodge 3152 and was held in July in the Masonic Hall Fishguard. Floral arrangements were provided by various clubs in Fishguard including the Lions, Rotary’ WI, Soroptomists, North Pembrokeshire Flower Club, Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council and various individuals. The local history society provided an extensive gallery of historic photographs. Local artists and craftsmen exhibited over 100 displays. The Lodge room provided a unique display area for over 100 displays of patch work and quilting by local residents and there were practical demonstrations of lace making and quilting. The Goodwick brass band gave an afternoon concert outside the Masonic hall. United Grand Lodge provided information on donations to non Masonic ch...

Masonry Universal - St Elli Lodge - June 15

Image
By W Bro Roger Robinson We often get the chance to help someone in our local community but someone 10,700 miles away is a rare occurrence but earlier this year that’s exactly the opportunity we were given. Thanks to the power of the internet and St. Elli’s website, www.stelli3942.org, we were contacted by a lady in Australia who was looking for a photograph of a long deceased relative, W Bro The Rev. Canon David Bowen, to complete her family tree. The only information she had was that during her research she had discovered that he had been Master of Lodge no.3667 in 1914. That number of course belongs to the Kensington Lodge of Installed Masters which was consecrated in 1913 with Lord Kensington as the First Master of the Lodge and W Bro The Rev. Canon David Bowen as the Senior Warden. The initial research in the records of the Kensington Lodge for a photograph proved fruitless but by further investigations I discovered that W. Bro Rev. Canon David Bowen had been a ...
