This is a programme from the World Service and once you start listening, you won't be able to stop. It tells the story of Apollo 11 and the 13 minutes of powered descent to the moon's surface. Using archive recordings from all the individual communications loops the men involved talk you through exactly what was happening on the systems they were monitoring. By episode 11 you can listen uninterrupted to the whole landing and know exactly what's going on and why. It's compulsive - to get you in the mood watch the short video below.

When you've landed on the moon, you can relive the Apollo 13 mission in the company of Jim Lovell and Fred Haise and their support team on the ground. Both series can be reached by clicking on the series image.
